Transit and Intercity Rail Capital Program

Program Summary The Transit and Intercity Rail Capital Program (TIRCP) will provide critical funding to upgrade and expand transit systems in regions throughout the state. Emissions reductions will be achieved by providing communities with safe, efficient, affordable, and fast transit infrastructure that will function as a viable alternative to single-occupancy vehicles and dramatically increase the number of people taking transit.

Eligible Projects The program will fund capital improvements and operational investments that will modernize California’s transit systems and intercity, commuter, and urban rail systems. These can include Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), light rail, subways, station improvement and expansion, maintenance facilities, and the acquisition of key equipment such as vehicles and fueling infrastructure.
